A new bakery café, ORDY THE BAKERY, has opened in Meguro Fudomae in Tokyo, Japan. After a long period of development, it was created through the collaboration of the long-established bakery L’atelier Cocco and the coffee roaster HAGAN ORGANIC COFFEE. ORDY THE BAKERY offers bread made from domestic wheat, 100% natural yeast, no additives, and house-roasted organic coffee with the concept “What you eat today shapes who you’ll become 10 years from now.” They aim to become a destination for the local community, bringing a new sense of warmth and comfort to the neighborhood.
I was responsible for developing the brand identity and designing each piece of collateral, including social media content. The overall brand identity was carefully developed to balance a friendly, pop aesthetic with a warm, relaxed look.
The logo features a hand-picking croissant, which creates an immediate visual impact and makes it easy to remember. It also serves as a landmark, encouraging people to make ORDY a destination. The logo was hand-drawn to convey warmth and familiarity. The custom typeface used in the logo was inspired by the rounded shape of bread, symbolizing the diversity of people who gather at ORDY.
The color palette consists of six colors. The primary colors, yellow and brown, represent warmth and friendliness, highlighting ORDY as a welcoming and familiar place for the local community. To complement these, a deep green was chosen as a secondary color, with cream and orange as accent colors to add a fresh and positive touch, balancing the richness of the primary colors. These brand identity elements are used effectively in various settings, including plates, signage, shopping bags, menus, shop cards, social media, staff uniforms, and more.
